What the Subaru Love Promise Means to Us

Here at Step One Subaru Fort Walton Beach, we strive to be much more than just your neighborhood Subaru dealership. That’s why we’re immensely proud to be recognized by Subaru of America Inc. as part of the Subaru Love Promise Customer and Community Commitment Award. 

So, what is the Subaru Love Promise? The Subaru Love Promise is built around five core pillars: Community, Health, Education, Environment, and Pets. We use these five pillars—along with our Subaru Share the Love® Events—as a guide to help us strive to make the world a better place. 

Our team members have done some great work over the years, and we figured we’d share the love by taking some time to highlight the local charities and organizations near Crestview that we’ve partnered with to make that work possible. 

Save Underdogs Rescue 

Over the past 20 years, this nonprofit organization has been involved in helping over 5,000 dogs to find happy homes with caring families. They’re involved in every step of the process, including rescue and rehabilitation, and their team of volunteers has provided medical care for dozens of furry friends this year alone. Through our most recent Share the Love event, we were able to help raise over $26,000, which will go directly toward helping Save Underdogs to continue their work. 

Opportunity Place

This organization has been around since 2008, and they play a critical role in the communities around Walton and Okaloosa Counties. Their ultimate goal is to eliminate homelessness, with a special focus on families and single women. With an ethos rooted in compassion and respect, they’ve aided thousands of unhoused locals obtain food, shelter, medication, and daycare services, and they continue to work with clients long after they’ve achieved financial stability. Recently, our dealership participated in an event that delivered warm clothing to those in need. 

HerScan 

This is a cause that’s near and dear to many people’s hearts, including our own. HerScan is a mobile company that performs ultrasound screening in order to detect and prevent breast cancer. Their staff is made up of friendly and highly experienced sonographers, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. Last year, we had the pleasure of hosting them at our dealership twice, and both events were a knockout success.

Children in Crisis 

CIC’s staff of nurturing and kind volunteers have made massive strides to help local children in foster care. One of their main goals is to keep siblings together as they move through a difficult period of their lives, and in doing so, they help to facilitate much needed stability for young kids who have experienced abuse or neglect. Thanks to their extensive resources, they’ve aided over 1,000 individuals and kept over 300 brothers and sisters together. 

Meals on Wheels of Okaloosa 

Most of us are familiar with this longstanding organization. Their mission is to provide low-cost, nutritious, and delicious meals to the elderly and infirm of the community. In doing so, they’ve allowed thousands in the area to continue to live independently, and volunteers also provide a source of warm social interaction. This chapter—run by Elder Services of Okaloosa County—has been doing their thing since 1971, and for the last four years, we’ve taken pride in our contributions in this community initiative.
